For over 12 years, we have been helping aspiring lawyers develop their advocacy skills and gain the experience needed to succeed in the legal profession. Founded by criminal barrister, John Dove, in 2012, we started with the National Speed Mooting Competition, an innovative event designed to make mooting more accessible and focus entirely on oral advocacy. Since then, we have grown to host a range of advocacy and mooting competitions, both online and in person, ensuring that participants of all backgrounds have the opportunity to develop their skills in a challenging yet supportive environment.

Our competitions are built on the idea that advocacy should be open to all, regardless of experience. Unlike traditional moots, where extensive research and drafting are required, our events allow competitors to focus purely on their oral submissions. Each participant is provided with all required materials, ensuring that preparation time is minimal and that the competition tests advocacy ability rather than research or drafting skills. Competitors enter as individuals rather than representing a university, meaning there is no limit on the number of entrants from any institution.

All of our competitions take place over a single day, following a knockout format. This makes them ideal for those who want to experience advocacy without committing to long preparation periods. Each competition is judged by practising barristers and solicitors, who often provide constructive feedback, helping competitors refine their technique and develop confidence in their presentation.
